Lifeboat Day 29th July 2007
Rob Canon the RNLI Porthleven branch chairman and his small team of volunteers have once again done an amazing job by arranging a highly impressive line up of events to raise money for the RNLI Lifeboats. This was in spite of unusually wet conditions prior to the day which prevented the use of Porthleven Football ground and the recreation area due to boggy conditions.
The net total raised by Porthleven Lifeboat Day 2007 was £7,226.91 after deductions.

In the early 1970's Porthleven used to hold a Gala week until Stan Lloyd came up with the idea of holding a Porthleven Lifeboat day in aid of the RNLI. The Penlee lifeboat appeared at the first Porthleven lifeboat day in 1975 and has been present ever since. The energy of Stan Lloyd and the committee turned Porthleven Lifeboat Day into the major event we know today.
This Page Is Dedicated To Jane Goldsworthy
The picture was taken on October 2006 of Jane Goldsworthy (left) standing with Gill Moore (right), Secretary of Porthleven RNLI.
Sadly, Jane passed away on 28th February 2007. Jane was a tireless fund raiser for the RNLI as well as other causes. She raised many thousands of pounds for the RNLI and in 2005 was made an honorary life member.
Jane will be greatly missed, but the effort she made, in all the tremendous voluntary work she did, will always be remembered.
